Before These Crowded Streets There was a New York City that we remembered and dwelt in. It was the fantastic city that’s no more. Before these crowded streets took shape in the city was a different entity and the skyline wasn’t as disorganized as it is now. Recall when the Brooklyn Bridge has been designed?

In the early days of this city the tallest buildings were constructed in what is now Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge. These were the times of Rockefeller and Carnegie and the wealthiest families in America had the town to themselves. Now the bridge is a pedestrian walkway.

When the wealthy families left city to holiday they left their enormous property behind. No one was permitted to disturb their privacy and they had no real law and order so folks slept in the streets or in their apartments. It was a very cosmopolitan town and people moved freely. Times Square was the central location for all entertainment and individuals would come to the city every night to shop, dine or just enjoy the gorgeous sights of Manhattan. The famous Broadway music scene started out of this location too.

However, in the early morning when the crowds would gather to watch the sun rise and set the town transformed from a holiday destination to some crime-ridden city. The sight of the smoke filled sky along with These Crowded Streets Home the sirens on the roads scared many people to keep inside. Times Square was also a point of interest for many, as it was the notorious “Tinie’s Picnic” took place. The picnic was a ritual where hundreds of vendors sold tinny white bread and hot dogs. Before these Crowded Streets there was always a quiet time outdoors where vendors sold their products while the skies gave way to a different moment.

After the railroads were constructed in the life around town became even more complex. Subsequently came the Ellis Island Immigration Statue. Ellis Island was the very first naturalization procedure for millions of people from all over the world. A number of the immigrants came seeking a better life and found New York City for a refuge. Some of them settled permanently and became the very first Americans.

Although lots of the men and women who lived in the city during the years before the skyscrapers were built are no longer living there they’ve been the symbols of town for many. Even though the city has shifted a lot of the faces of the buildings which stand today are still indicative of what the city was like at various times in its history. The tourists who visit now are also able to take part in a part of the history by touring the many historical sites around the city.
